Re: building a plexiglass case

Theres a few things to consider about the design of your case before you start:
size of case?
parts location?
thickness of plexiglass?
using 1/2" square rods to screw corners?
making your own motherboard tray?
making your own IO plate?

I have made a few cases but need alot more info about your design before i could offer some help.

I am mentally challenging you.....so consider yourself mentally challenged.

Re: building a plexiglass case

full size tower.  not sure about exact dimensions just yet but open to suggestions.
psu on the bottom, mobo above the psu, 4 regular drive bays in front, but i also want to mount multiple fans "front, side, back, and top".
thickness i was thinking 1/4-1/2" "im not sure if these are practical thicknesses just what i was thinking".
as far as securing the corners, motherboard tray, and io plate these are all areas i would need advice about.

Re: building a plexiglass case

before you start spending money on the stuff to do up your case you might want to check out an acrylic case.  here is one of the first ones that came up from google.  http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1198/ … d=puBsaNq6

When I bought the case I have now I was goign to get one,  the only reason I didn't is that I move my computer around alot,  I take it wiht me when I work out of town an I thought an acrylic case would pick up alot of deep scratchs from that.

Re: building a plexiglass case

Danger Den is the place to get a plexi case, this is who Frozen CPU gets them from. On thing about plexi you have to remember is heat, its an insulator not a dissapater and static. The static isnt enough to say ruin a mother board but it is enough to drive you up a wall keeping it clean. For a MB tray I would suggest buying a slide out one from like Lian Li  Mountain Mods or Puget Systems. This will save you the hassel of all the cutting or just leaving wide open holes in the back. I have a shit ton of links for building one and all the tips and tricks if you want them. Just let me know!
