New video card

In the market for a new video card.  Budget about 250.  Currently using a 560ti.   Want something nvidia that will handle the recording whatever its called.  I'm lazy and can't be arsed doing my own homework.  What are your recommendations?

Re: New video card

Unless you want to shell out $350 for a GTX970, I would recommend getting at GTX670.

PS, they call it ShadowPlay

Re: New video card

You may want to look at a GTX 770.  I think Current and Sleepingdog use it.

Yeah the 670's seem expensive for what they are.  350 and up is the price I am seeing.

Re: New video card

I have a 760 and like it. I run BF4 graphics on high with antialiasing turned off and frames of 100+.. Current has the 780 and reports less than satisfactory performance. Personally Waysa, I would splurge and get the 970. Due to a graphics card need on another pc in the house, I may get it for mine. From what I have read, it substantially outperforms the 760. Duke has the 970, so maybe he will chime in.

Re: New video card

It seems that
1) it's hard to find the 670's and they are expensive (same price as the 970)
2) it's hard to find 970's.  Newegg has 17, and 12 are out of stock.

I wonder if a new chipset is coming out and theses have been back burnered.

I've got a 570 if someone with a newer card wants to trade smile Nvidia removed cuda support from their 500 series

Chiming in. I have 2 of the 970's but the second one was defective and had to be replaced and it was backordered so I know how they run in single mode. I upgraded from a 670 and WOW big difference. Now I run BF4 on highest settings @ 1920x1080 and its buttery smooth. Well, unless someone is going nuts with flames and smoke and you have >4x Anti-aliasing on.. I recommend it. Don't bother with the 980 I got both of the 970's for less than the 980 was going for. What I got was below. They still somewhat hard to get as they are brand new cards. Quietest 970's in existence as the fans don't even turn on unless a certain high heat threshold is hit. Wanted EVGA but they were nowhere to be found + more expensive.

I'm leaning towards this.

And a new PSU as well.

It's my christmas present to myself.

- Edit...

I looked at this this afternoon, and now when I pulled it up tonight it's out of stock on newegg.

WTF.

Picked up this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814487076

And this for the PSU:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … =U12-42467

39 bucks, not bad.  I currently have an ultra 600W that has been running without so much as a fart since 2007.

Removed support as in they're not releasing anymore drivers?  My 560 still shows up as cuda in BOINC.

Re: New video card

Let me rephrase, they took out the older NVCUVID api (CUDA on the 500 series and below).  The 600 series and above use the newer NVENC api for CUDA, which they left in.

I believe the last driver to include NVCUVID was the 337.88, which is what I'm gonna be using from now on, at least until I'm done ripping all my movies to mp4's

Re: New video card

So I got my power supply this morning.

Well, I got "A" powersupply this morning.

Would have been nice if tiger sent me the actual part I ordered.

Been on hold with customer support for 20 40 over one hour minutes.

They seem to be slipping lately, probably won't order from them again.

Call one, on hold for over 60 minutes,
Spoke to guy, said they would send me the replacement once they received the old one.  Told him no this is their screwup, ship the new one now, and send me a shipping label.  He said it was taken care if, it was being shipped yesterday and that I needed to send the old one back.  No problem.

Except today I still hadn't received a shipping label.   Logged into my account, noticed there was a new order created, but it said "On hold waiting for customer return".  I call again, on hold 40 minutes.  Tell the guy I want it shipped today, and I still hadn't received the return label.  Also told him now I wanted it shipped overnight.  he said no problem.

I get the return label a few mins later.  I boxed it up, but I had already missed UPS pickup in office.

When I got home tonight on a hunch, I decided to check the order status for the replacement.  Lo and behold, it's still "On hold, waiting for customer return"  I call them again, irate.

First girl who answers hangs up on me when I ask to speak to the supervisor.  I called back again, even more irate.  I told the guy again what had happened, and he said "Well, we don't ship things until we receive the return.  I reiterated to him again that I was told it was being shipped yesterday and this this was their fault.  I asked to speak to his supervisor, he put me on hold until the voice mail system picked up and asked me to enter an extension, then it disconnected me.

I called back a third time, even more irate, and ready to tear into the next motherfucker who picked up the phone. However the guy who answered this time was obviously from their American call center.  First thing I did was ask his name and any employee number he had.  He happily provided it.  I gave him a quick run down of the problem, and within five minutes he sent the order through with overnight shipping.  I still won't receive it until Monday, which sucks, as my card comes tomorrow.  But we'll see what happens.

Outsourced call centers suck.  And it's nothing personal or racist or whatever.  I don't blame the poor asshat who works in some shithole company in some likely shithole country for being shitty about the fact he has to deal with irate first worlders for probably pennies on the dollar of a westerner.  I blame the motherfucking companies who pull this shit to save a buck. The outsourced workers likely aren't even empowered to release a shipment so their hands were probably tied.  Well  either that or they have a disproportionate number of assholes working there.

My last order from tiger.  Amazon and newegg from now on.

Also, what I ordered:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … No=7451089

What they sent:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=2533

Amazon (prime) and Micro-Center are where I get all my parts. Micro center has great deals all the time and Amazon, well, I know whatever I ordered will be at my house in two days.
